If I were a teacher these days, I would be very afraid.
This is from KYW1060:
“More job cuts are in store at the Philadelphia School District.
“Pink slips are going out later this week for non-teaching personnel.
“‘We are talking about approximately 270-plus layoff notices going out, starting this Friday,’ says School District spokesman Fernando Gallard.

It’s not just happening in Philadelphia either. Around the region school districts are looking at their budget numbers with the cuts coming from the state and federal dollars and it’s looking bad, real bad.
Other than raising taxes more and more, there are some districts that are figuring the alternate route is to start reducing their numbers. Whether through attrition or layoffs, teachers are beginning to disappear.
As parents, how do you feel about that? Are there too many teachers now? Do you feel your child’s education will be affected? Is this a dangerous precedent?
If I was a teacher, I would be very worried.
