This ranks in the top 10 all-time dumb decisions. And I don’t want to hear the sob stories…
From the Associated Press:
“To assist her dying father, Tarah Souders made a choice: She moved her three young girls to a run-down trailer park in rural Indiana to help take care of him as his lungs rotted from emphysema.
“She knew it could be dangerous. The park of about two dozen homes was teeming with convicted sex offenders, with one living at nearly every address. She worried about neighbors with sex-offense records who had been helping her father get by, according to trailer-park residents, but her father, himself a sex-offender, assured her it would be OK.
“Weeks later, police say, a horrific tragedy unfolded. Her 9-year-old daughter, Aliahna Lemmon, was brutally killed. Police say Michael Plumadore, 39, told investigators that he beat her to death with a brick, then dismembered her and hid her head, hands and feet at her grandfather’s trailer before dumping the other remains elsewhere.”
What exactly did this woman miss when it came to making a decision like this? You decide to take young kids to a trailer park to help care for your dying father who himself is a sex offender? Then you’re stunned when one of them is not only killed by one of these monsters but chopped up and dumped?
Granted, the alleged killer wasn’t himself a sex offender but really, who would expose a child to that sort of environment knowing what it was?
This woman should have never been allowed to have her children. I get it about being a caregiver. I have been one myself. But no one person would be worth risking the lives of three children. How about moving the dying father to a hospice? Or somewhere else where he could be managed and cared for?
What exactly was she thinking? Obviously she wasn’t. No one takes young children into a neighborhood or area known for harboring bunches of child abusers and sex fiends. And now a young child is dead. And talk about a horrific way to die.
Here’s what I hope for: I hope the guy gets the chair for this crime. And I hope someone seriously considers taking the other two girls from this woman and getting into other living arrangements.
Otherwise the others children are in serious peril knowing this woman and the apparent lack of common sense…
